As the worldbecomes less human, understandingpeople matters more.

I’m Lydia, a strategic designer and behaviour change strategist with 10+ years’ experience helping organisations understand complex human problems, focus on what really needs to change, and make better decisions about how to get there.

I’ve worked across global development, financial services and the public sector — from research in the field to advising senior leaders, shaping strategy and leading teams through transformation. I’m currently based in Europe, having spent five years living and working in New Zealand, and have worked with organisations and teams around the world.

I’m curious by nature and happiest in the grey. I like getting close to people, asking the questions that uncover what’s really going on, and bringing different perspectives together to find a way forward. I’m thoughtful, collaborative and not afraid to challenge the brief when I think there’s a better question to ask.

HOW I WORK

Be clear about the change.

Stay open about how you get there.

For me, good design starts with being clear about the change we’re trying to create — for people, for an organisation or for a wider system.

From there, I work out what needs to be different. What’s getting in the way? What do we need to understand about people, behaviour and context? And where does change actually need to happen?

Sometimes that means changing behaviour. Sometimes it means redesigning a service or the way an organisation works. Sometimes the wider system needs attention. Often, it’s a combination.

The method follows the problem — not the other way around.

Depending on what’s needed, I draw on:

Human insight

Qualitative research · Fieldwork · Behavioural insight · Synthesis

Strategic design

Problem framing · Service design · Strategy · Systems thinking

Making change happen

Experimentation · Facilitation · Co-design · Organisational change

Leading people through it

Engagement leadership · Senior stakeholder alignment · Coaching · Capability building
